The look of love
This Valentine’s Day finding your perfect match could be a simple as looking into a potential suitor’s eyes! Eye colour is one of the major rules of sub-conscious attraction.
Generally speaking we choose partners with a similar eye colour to ourselves or people who’s eyes are akin to those of our opposite sex parent ie: your mother if you’re a man or your father if you’re a woman.
So, if you want to get a head start attracting the object of your affections check out the colour of their eyes to see if you are a match made in heaven.
If not, all is not lost! You can always fake it with a pair of coloured contact lenses.
Colour tinted lenses can enhance or change the colour of your eye without affecting the your vision. Even if you don’t need your vision correcting you can still take advantage of these coloured lenses as they are available in non-prescription formats.
However, always ensure you have any contact lenses professionally fitted by a qualified eyecare practitioner and be sure to follow the prescribed aftercare programme.
A survey commissioned by the Eyecare Trust found that men and women agreed that blue is the most attractive eye colour in a potential partner – thirty five per cent of respondents said it was their favourite colour.
Whilst sixty five per cent more women than men chose brown as the eye colour they found most attractive and twice as many men than women said they had a preference for green eyes.
•MORI surveyed 2,037 adults aged 15+ for the Eyecare Trust’s ‘Eyecare and Fashion’ survey.
